Panayanjeri is a small village in Tamil Nadu.On the banks of the Arani river. It has a channel which helps channel water from the Krishna river to Tamil Nadu.

The Panayanjeri name is of two Tamil words - Panai and Cheri. Panai means palm tree coming from earth and Cheri represents the place of group of people living in a place.

SOUTH: The place called Thirukandalam is near to Panayanjeri Village where the famous Shiva temple is located.This is the place for Shiva Temple from Thondai Mandalam era. Now a Gurukal is there aged near 99yrs of old. This is the a place too where God Shiva Darshanam near the Thirukulam ( God Nandheeswarar done a pooja in this pond - there is a history).

Thirukandalam is located between Karanodai and Periyapalayam. It's a shortest way to reach the Tirupathi from Chennai

• • Consequent on the implementation of the Andra Pradesh and Madras Alteration of Boundaries Act, 1959, with effect from 1.4.1960, Tirutani Taluk and Pallipattu sub-taluk of Chittoor district of Andra Pradesh were transferred to Madras (Tamil Nadu) and annexed with the Chengalpattu District.
