A fact from Usos y costumbres appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 16 February 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that indigenous customary law, known as usos y costumbres, is used for local elections in Mexico and Bolivia?
Apart from a single mention of water rights, there are no examples in this article specifying what usos y costumbres actually prescribe or what areas of law they cover. Could someone knowledgeable add something about this. The article currently lists examples where they are valid and how they are recognised within the national legal structure of the jurisdictions in which they operate, but it would be good to have something about what they are actually like, what they prohibit or mandate, etc. Beorhtwulf (talk) 22:09, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
