[edit]This article doesn't make sense. Why does something that is "part of the normal genital flora of both men and women" need antibiotic treatment? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.245.172.32 (talk) 18:05, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand how does a person get an infection like this?
>>Like in other infections, it depends on the relative amount of U.u. compared to completely harmless bacteria like e.g. Lactobacillus acidophilus in vaginal microbiota. If those bacteria are stressed, U.u. may overwhelm normal flora.
The figure of 70% incidence in the population is quite on the high end. The author should verify this or cite appropiate references.
I was told that this is a rare thing to catch.
you get it from having oral or vaginal sex like you get everything else accept it lives in the throat too so you get it from coughing and people can carry them around and give it from a hand shake cuz they live literally outside the box wash your hands and cover mouths people.
- Ureaplasma is an STD -- one of the most common. Safe sex with uninfected partners is your best bet. It does NOT live in your throat and you WON'T get it from people shaking your hands or coughing.Danierrr (talk) 03:07, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
unreliable sources
[edit]The article has been updated with more reliable references from medical journals. A lot of that other information is outdated and just plain false.
I tried to modify the article to more appropriately reflect the true conclusions of the citations. I agree with the user above that there is a lot of inferred causality from what has only been shown in studies to be association. Ahnika1 (talk) 00:49, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- That is why such careful words like 'association' are used. I'll take another look and make sure that the wording is accurate.Best Regards, Barbara (WVS) ✐ ✉ 15:52, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
