During its time as a USAF Air Force Base the airfield housed F111's and is rumored to have housed nuclear devices for a short time during the cold war. During the year of 1987 a fighter squadron based their was deployed to bomb Libya hoping to kill Ghadafi and other important persons in his staff.Legionarie (talk) 01:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
