Origin
[edit]Does anyone know why the universities merged? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 19:31, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- For financial reasons (already exposed) but also because it's a "reunification" of the three universities that split after the social and students' revolts of the so-called "mai 1968". It is a reconnection with the historic university of Strasbourg that was also rendered possible thanks to the newly obtained devolution of powers that started in the 2000's. 185.45.22.140 (talk) 16:35, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- To be entitled to receive more funds from the State and the local collectivities than all three universities added. See here: http://www.lemonde.fr/municipales-cantonales/article/2008/02/28/a-strasbourg-la-fusion-des-universites-fait-consensus-entre-les-candidats_1016617_987706.html.
