Edgar Snyder

Why was he removed from the list of notable alumni? He is inarguably the most famous lawyer in Pittsburgh, perhaps all of Western Pennsylvania. He is notable enough to have his own wikipedia page, for example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.93.60.56 (talk) 18:24, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I agree, he should remain. He is well known and notable, even having his own wikipedia article.CrazyPaco (talk) 19:20, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I was the one who removed him. When I created this page I initially intended the notable alumni to include only people with national recognition, such as national politicians. However, I recognize that the list fails on two levels - it does not contain all such persons, and neither does it consist exclusively of those with national renown. So, having stated my philosophy, I suppose it's ok with me to have Edgar Snyder on the list. My only concern is that the list shouldn't become cluttered with too many names, so as long as we're careful about that I'm cool with the addition. Crazyale (talk) 05:31, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Notable persons

Notability does not depend on whether a person has an article in wikipedia yet. For instance, John Swanson who just donated all the money and had the engineering school named after him does not have a wikipedia page, however, he is also a winner of the John Fritz Medal among other achievements that would certainly warrant an article if someone was inclined to write it.I have no idea who Richard Hemmings is or to what degree he is notable, but I just want to throw out there that we shouldn't base our sole judgment on wikipedia alone. Maybe the author of the entry could clarify the notability of this gentleman better.CrazyPaco (talk) 18:28, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
