GA Review

This is the first GA review that I have done... so if there are any problems or issues, just let me know because I am just trying to figure it out! Thanks for your patience!

  • For an article of this size, the lead could be expanded.
  • Clarifications
    1. The sentence in "University origins" that begins with "An earlier color set..." should be edited as to not repeat the same word twice. Also, I think that sentence would fit better at the beginning of that paragraph to flow chronologically.
    2. Could use some clarity about the sentence that states "The extension service became a model of the federally mandated programs that were required beginning in 1914."
    3. "...the university led to the creation of the College of Home Economics..." The wording here is unclear because the university itself did not lead to the creation of the department.
    4. Just as a question, why are some words kept in brackets? ex: Ashland [municipal] Junior College
    5. In the reference section, what does this mean " .profile_pic img { width:auto; height:70px; }" found in the "Record numbers, quality mark..." citation
  • Citations
    1. According to Wikipedia:Embedded citations, "You should not add a descriptive title to an embedded HTML link within an article. Instead, when giving an embedded link as a source within an article, simply enclose the URL in square brackets...However, you should add a descriptive title when an external link is offered in the References, Further reading, or External links section." There should not be a hyperlink to the School of Human Environmental Sciences or to Media Depot. The external site may be used as a reference or in the external links section, but should not be included in the article like they are..
    2. Information that needs to be cited
  • The information in the first paragraph under "University Origins"
  • "University of Kentucky Extension Centers in Fort Knox (1958), Cumberland (1960), and Henderson (1960) followed." and the paragraph that follows that sentence.
  • " Two years later, the Board of Trustees implements the legislation and established the Community College System, creating centers in Covington, Ashland, Fort Knox, Cumberland, Henderson and Elizabethtown. In 1969, the Patterson Office Tower was completed, currently the tallest building on campus."

  • Spelling/Grammar errors
    1. "University origins": "which research" -> "which researches"
    2. "Agricultural Extension service" -> "Agricultural Extension Service"
    3. "The Student Center" -> "the Student Center"
    4. "1955,when" -> "1955, when"
    5. "masters -> master's
    6. "honorific programs of excellence " (to avoid puffery)

  • The images in the photo should be spaced out and perhaps alternated on left and right in order to be more aesthetically pleasing. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images, "Images should ideally be spread evenly within the article, and relevant to the sections they are located in." The images in the "Contemporary History Section" just seem to be stacked on top of each other. I think there is room to rearrange those.
  • Wikilinks
    1. Watch the number of times you have a wikilink for one thing. Generally, you should only link to something once in an article and the Kentucky General Assembly is linked to several times (along with James Kennedy Patterson, Transylvania University, United States, William T. Young Library, etc.
    2. I feel like there are is some over linking done in this article like linking to the United States or to FM, which are broad and common knowledge. Maybe that's just my opinion, so feel free to double check against the rules of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking
  • These sites didn't work for me

  • This site didn't have the information the article states about Tally Cats[20], and this general site for the athletics doesn't necessarily state that the university has said athletic programs. [21]. In addition, this site [22] doesn't provide the information it is cited to either, only perhaps through searching in the toolbar. Same problem with this general site [23].
