Recent edits/POV dispute
Recent edits that have been done by Schaibs3, I feel are not neutral. The user is a fairly new one here at Wikipedia, and I've left him/her a message on their talk page asking them to take Wikipedia's NPOV policy into consideration. There were some great things added, but everything needs to be updated to be more neutral. On the upside, I'm glad to see someone has taken an interest in contributing to this article. I've added the POV template in the meantime. Brianreading (talk) 09:49, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Diversity Claim
UH-Dowtown does not appear in any of the comprehensive diversity rankings. [1] I am removing the comparitive diversity claim. Dothivalla 05:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- Dothivalla: UHD would not be on the chart you cite because UHD is not a "national university" (i.e., it does not offer any PhD programs). If you were to find the correct US News and World Report chart (which might not be available on-line), UHD would be near or at the top of it. Steve Casburn 08:10, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- I appreciate your comments Steve. Thanks for pointing out that UHD is not a Doctorate granting school. Unfortunately all comparitive claims must be cited by a verifiable source. Wiki policy is extremely clear and clearly says that truth is secondary to verifiability. The policy can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability. The line, as written, cannot stand because it meets the exact definition of an 'Academic Boosterism' comment. The guideline strongly discourages "one of the" language as an example of what we should not be posting. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Avoid_academic_boosterism
- Long story short, I think we both know that UHD is diverse. As written now, the article states the simple fact. But to claim that UHD is relatively more diverse than other schools needs a cite. Dothivalla 12:49, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:UHD Logo.jpg
File:UHD Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

New Name Considered
The official report on UH-D's name from Richards/Carlserg states that those from UH-D that oppose a name change opposed it because they "like the fact that the current name is very descriptive and highlights UHD's affiliation with UH". It is only in the presentation .pdf that a statement is made that UH-D name supporters "value the confusion". There is no data produced to back this claim up(that UH-D students are liars). —Preceding unsigned comment added by JRMWIKI (talk • contribs) 19:44, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I am going to add a section on the new name that is being considered by the board of regents —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.242.174 (talk) 05:20, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Its me again. I think I found something that says they have already made the decision. According to this site I found,http://www.uhsa.uh.edu/regents/board_meetings/documents/121208Acad/A&SS%207.pdf, the name selected is Houston Metropolitan University (HMU). They have a scanned pdf letter with the signatures of UHD President Max Castillo and UH Chancellor Renu Khator. I wonder if these are genuine. The official site of UHD has made no mention of it. I am not going to add anything until I can verify but I'd just thought I'd let everyone know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.242.174 (talk) 09:04, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I've verified it's true and authentic. I'm going with it. The Texas legislature still has to approve it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.242.174 (talk) 09:14, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Why was my addition deleted on the new name deleted? I wish people would at least give a reason for deleting items. Im going to add it back later. Its important. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.242.174 (talk) 22:00, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
UHD–TSU proposed merger in 1986
Links to six (6) Houston Chronicle articles relating to the UHD–TSU proposed merger in 1986. Putting the sources here so I will not forget to incorporate them into the article sometime in the near future. —RJN (talk) 10:38, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Proposed merge with University of Houston–Downtown College of Humanities and Social Sciences
The College does not meet the criteria for a stand-alone article. TYelliot | Talk | Contribs 07:11, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
- I redirected the article to this article. If you want to add the information to this article, please do so. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences article was a mess. Corkythehornetfan 02:54, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
UHD Admissions Standards
UHD has implemented its new admissions standards for fall 2013; therefore, the statements regarding future admissions standards are out-of-date. Given that the standards are in place, I would suggest that the several sentences describing the history of admissions standards approval be removed, as they are no longer topical.74.71.171.11 (talk) 17:43, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Aaron Gillette
