Advert and excessive detail tags
[edit]Hi I would like to kindly ask why you keep marking the university of Cambodia’s page as an advertisement. I have written it objectively and used a neutral tone (or strived to). Can you please let me know why you keep marking it as such? Thank you! TravisM416 (talk) 12:11, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- TravisM416, I have copied the above comment from my talkpage, given it a new heading, and will comment here.
- The tone is not too bad overall, but the level of detail is quite excessive, and there are few sources that are independent. Just looking at the lead, the source to back up the "leading private" university claim is a blog post from a second-year student - not a reliable source, nor a neutral one. And how many private universities are there in Cambodia anyway - does this claim to be a "leading" one amount to anything? Edwardx (talk) 17:17, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- Agree, there is too much detail. We don't need to know who opened each room or the list of recipients of honorary degrees. It needs a good trim. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:01, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- PhilafrenzyEdwardx Thanks for responding! There are actually over 120 universities in Cambodia, the majority of which are private. Many of these are of dubious quality, which is why I have opted to provide more details to confirm that it's a legitimate, highly-regarded university in Cambodia. While the details may seem excessive from a Western point of view, Cambodians prefer this style as it confirms the university's clout, and it still remains objective and neutral, which is in accordance to Wikipedia's standards. As for the claim of "leading," I will add another source on this. In Cambodia, the university is highly regarded, but consistently ignored by international rankings due to the small amount of research produced (as a consequence of the Khmer Rouge). I hope this clears things up and at least provides some context. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talk • contribs) 00:52, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
- TravisM416 We need to follow Wikipedia policies; whether or not "Cambodians prefer this style" is irrelevant. You need to consider your possible conflict of interest - please read the message on your talkpage Edwardx (talk) 10:51, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Philafrenzy Hi Philafrenzy I wanted to say that I cleaned up a lot of the content because you were right, it needed a good trim. Could you look over it and consider removing the tags? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talk • contribs) 04:25, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- TravisM416, thank you for removing a lot of detail, but far too much remains. For example, we do not need to know about every course offered by every department, especially as the only sourcing is the university's website. And you have still not responded to the conflict of interest message on your talkpage. Edwardx (talk) 09:50, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
EdwardxPhilafrenzy Agree with you both about it being too detailed. Everything seems cleared up now. TravisM416 Please be careful in the future with how you write certain phrases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kramarquez (talk • contribs) 12:29, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
I do not have a conflict of interest. I’m trying to clean up this article and have the text be appropriate. I’ve deleted over half of it and would honestly like it to be done, so can you kindly point to the paragraph that is giving you trouble? Instead of just saying it’s excessive, I would greatly appreciate something concrete. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talk • contribs) 02:39, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, TravisM416, but I do not believe you. Since you first edited Wikipedia in June 2016, all of your editing has been to this article, its founder Kao Kim Hourn, or to add University of Cambodia content to other articles. You are employed by the University of Cambodia, are you not? You have an obvious conflict of interest. Edwardx (talk) 10:03, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
EdwardxHi, sorry you dont believe me. I volunteer my time for them, but I have not received compensation. I have no obligation to do this, thus I do not have a conflict of interest — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talk • contribs) 10:41, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
Edwardx Morning, I spent some more time and really tried to edit down any information whatsoever that may be considered advertisement or too specific. I think that now it's very objective and neutral. I wanted to make sure you were pleased with it first before I removed the tags. If you see anything else that needs editing, kindly let me know. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talk • contribs) 02:30, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
