Adolfo Pérez Esquivel is not a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires, he is a graduate of the University of La Plata. I deleted that name

Info Request

Can somebody add some information about the tuition? I know its free to Argentinians, but I talked to a columbian UBA student who told me he, too, goes free of charge, and that the school was partially setup by the Che. Is that true?? I was also told by one of my professors at UBA that the police are not allowed to enter the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales so taht there was no worry of the police putting down student protests. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.212.38.37 (talk • contribs)

The University is free for all, and it is much older than Che, so he had nothing to do with setting it up. I'm not sure about the police but I have occasionally seen policemen on campus... probably not on "official business", though, but technically they do have jurisdiction over the grounds. How long is the study in the university, 3 years or 4 years? Moreover, does a student having completed the high school in China need to attend a preparatory school (CBC in argentina) before going to the university? Is the CBC study is free in Argentina and how long is the studing of CBC? If you have other helpful information, please also tell me. The studys for every student are free, the minimun for getting a degree are 5 years(usually longer), the cbc is mandatory (minimun one year, max 3), the CBC is a part of the university an is also free —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.48.255.17 (talk) 12:26, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I totally agree with Sebatian Kessel in the Che`s topic and in the question of the gratuiti of the UBA for anybody in the hole word (at least at now). The law forbidden the police and any armed force to go inside any UBA building, being totally legal the expulsion of them (in the case of go inside) by the students. The UBA it`s autarquic , autonom, of the Argentinian state but dependient in economic ways. I`m a Spanish Wikipedia Wikipedist travel away my motherland and also a history student in the "Facultad de Filosofia y Letras" of the UBA (Philosophy and Literature School) that comprends the History, Antropology, Literature, Philosophy, Geography, Arts (Teorical ,non practical).

Picture captions

It's a minor annoyance, but the captions for the campus photos translate the Spanish word "facultad" to "faculty." This word, obviously, is a false cognate. The word means campus or school (as in School of Law or School of Medicine) in English.
