VP Joe Biden
[edit]Biden's name should be removed, as Senate's Bust Collection doesn't include a VP until he's left office. GoodDay (talk) 17:33, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Missing VPs
[edit]Does anyone know why Al Gore and Dick Cheney do not have busts in this collection? — LinguistAtLarge • Talk 20:29, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think there's a time-delay between term completion and commissioning of new busts. The present collection only includes vice presidents up to Dan Quayle. It is not clear if it will continue to add new busts; I was not able to find any plans for expansion on the official Senate website; but historically, the new busts seem to be added some time after the vice president's term ends. Copyrighted photos
[edit]Would photos individuals take of the busts (i.e., vacation photos and the like) also be excluded under the copyright restriction? If so, why? Esprix (talk) 17:54, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Copyright Even Under Government Contract
[edit]Since the busts are paid for by the Senate under contract with the artists, I wondered if they would be considered works of the government that could not be copyrighted. I'm sure others had this question, so I will leave this info here. It turns out the artists still own the copyright until they expire:
"Unlike works of the U.S. Government, works produced by contractors under government contracts are protected under U.S. Copyright Law. (See Schnapper v. Foley, 667 F.2d 102 (D.C. Cir. 1981)..."

Harry truman bust
[edit]It is past the creators death by 70 years meaning the bust of harry truman should be allowed right Journey896 (talk) 18:29, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- I had this image deleted back in 2016 off commons[1] as it was very clearly still under copyright 6 years ago. It seems that a re-uplodad of the image was deleted based off my deletion request from 2016.[2] Now that 70 years have passed since the artist died, I will leave it up to people that are better with copyright to figure out if it is now applicable even though it was not carved before 1926.--Found5dollar (talk) 01:22, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- FYI the file was undeleted on commons after a discussion.[3] I will add it back in here.--Found5dollar (talk) 01:16, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
