@Snickers2686: Just as we add confirmed but not commissioned judges to the table, I think when a judge assumes senior status "pending the confirmation of their successor", it seems logical (to me at least) that we can indicate when a judge will assume senior status imminently. Indeed, less than 4 hours after you reverted my edit, you personally made the same edit. I don't know why that was necessary. Nevermore27 (talk) 18:11, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Nevermore27: Because at that point it hadn't been acknowledged by the FJC yet, which has always been the controlling factor when updating when judges receive commission or go senior. Per WP:CRYSTAL: Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place.Snickers2686 (talk) 18:20, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Snickers2686: We currently do beg. 2021 for judges confirmed but not commissioned, I don't see much difference between that and using -2021 for a judge who is imminently assuming senior status, as your edit less than 4 hours later demonstrates. So maybe we should stop doing the former. Nevermore27 (talk) 18:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Nevermore27: Well the judge will more than likely take office the same year they're confirmed, albeit one who may be confirmed in late December but commissioned in January, (i.e. Morgan Christen, Don Willett, etc.) but those are rare exceptions.
