Political Position

[edit]

If its a Marxist-Leninist party, it a should be listed as "Far-left" I don't see any evidence to the claim that its a 'centrist party". ErickTheMerrick (talk) 21:39, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The left-right position labels have no absolute meaning, there is no global standard on what is left and what is right. In the US, liberals are seen as part of the left, in most other countries liberals are seen as part of the right. Now there aren't a lot of refs on this party in particular, as it is still fairly recent and not yet appearing in a lot of scholarly literature. But if we look at CPN(UML), from which the party emerged and from which it draws its ideological line, is described as a centre-left party in some literature ("... center - left CPN ( UML ) , which provided the primary opposition to Nepal's dominant center - right Nepali Congress party throughout the 1991-2005 democratic period." [1], "CPN (UML ) : The leadership of this centre left party shows strong parallels to the NC" [2], "centre left CPN-UML" [3], "The economic, social and cultural policies adopted by the UML [...] could not even maintain it in the centre left." [4]). I'm not suggesting to but Centrist in the infobox, but clearly 'far-left' is not linked to the role and position of the party in Nepali politics. --Soman (talk) 22:09, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
