Fair use rationale for Image:Prescottrusselllogo.gif
[edit]Image:Prescottrusselllogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned references in United Counties of Prescott and Russell
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of United Counties of Prescott and Russell's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "cp2001":
- From Lanark County: "Population and Dwelling Counts, for Canada, Provinces and Territories, and Census Divisions, 2001 and 1996 Censuses".
- From Hastings County: Statistics Canada 2001 Census - Hastings County
- From Haliburton County: "Population and Dwelling Counts, for Canada, Provinces and Territories, and Census Divisions, 2001 and 1996 Censuses". 2001 Census. Statistics Canada.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 03:15, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Motto translation
[edit]The infobox has "Sic Dat Diligentia Terra" translated as "He who works hard reaps a good harvest" - but that doesn't really work. "Harvest" would be "messis", whereas "Terra" means earth or ground or soil. Can anyone provide a better translation? Tompw (talk) 20:56, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
United ...
[edit]I've converted some (all?) plural references to singular when referring to "the county" generally. I can find nothing in the Municipal Act that treats "united counties" as anything other than an upper-tier municipality like any other entity with "county" (singular) in the name. Or upper-tier municipalities with any other designation in their name. Like lower-tier municipalities -- city, town, township, municipality, etc -- the "type" means nothing.
OTOH, if you have a cite that says otherwise, please post!! plaws (talk) 20:18, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- And another reminder - the two counties were "united" 203 years ago as of this post ... :-) plaws (talk) 20:19, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
