Untrue statement

The statement: "... and was implied to be at least somewhat inebriated throughout the series (he hiccups during the theme song, for example)" Here is the opening theme song: Uncle Croc's Block Intro 1975. There is no hiccuping; the inhaling after each sung line is how Nelson Reilly sang. It was his style and trademark: Charles Nelson Reilly 1974 Tony Awards. There are no online sources to back the claim that Uncle Croc was inebriated except for this blog: Charles Nelson Reily IS Uncle Croc; but that is personal opinion.
