Doerner farm in Cleveland Oregon produced Riesling and Zinfandel in the 1880s?
An old version of this article and various web pages talk about this. I believe Cleveland is a place designation, no longer used, for an area outside Roseburg. I found Doerner Vinyard LLC located outside of Roseburg, this may be the same as the historical reference to a Doerner farm. It needs to be confirmed that these are one in the same. If they are the same then we need to see if we can establish how long the vineyard has been in business and what grapes they have produced over the years. Uncubed (talk) 23:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Scott Henry Trellis System
Scott Henry first used his system at his own winery, Henry Estate Winery. This lead to the Smart-Henry system. There are a number of websites which talk about the system but we need to find some good sources that tie the system to the winery. Also consider if this is appropriate for an AVA article.

New source for grape production needed.

• I would discourage adding this list as they come across as very WP:ADVERT-ish. Keep in mind that Wikipedia is WP:NOTDIRECTORY and not a WP:WINEGUIDE. At best an external link at the bottom to a page with this kind of directory type information would be acceptable, otherwise the article starts to look less like an encyclopedia and more like a sales brochure for the wine producers of the Umpqua Valley.   • I read the policy articles and I can understand the concern. I have mixed feelings about it but I will leave the information out of the article unless the policies are changed at some point. I'll focus my research on the other areas. I am going to leave the list of wineries in the discussion page for reference purposes. Most news articles regarding the AVA are likely to talk about the wineries, vineyards, and cities more so than the appellation. Uncubed (talk) 22:26, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

You have a nice start so far. I would recommend taking a look at other developed wine region articles like Red Mountain AVA, Russian River Valley AVA, Côte Chalonnaise, Valpolicella, etc for an idea of what type of content (and sources) that are useful to have in these types of articles. Personally I am a huge stickler for sources and if I can't find a source for an item, I just remove it or transfer it to the talk page (like you did here). My belief is if it is a truly notable, encyclopedic detail than a source will eventually emerge and the detail can go back into the article. So if you can't find good, reliable sources for Doerner Farm just take it out. Don't be afraid to just start the article from scratch if you have a good source in front you. As for the details about the grapes, I think there is some notability in being one of the view US wine regions to grow Gruner Veltliner and one of the few in Oregon to grow something other than Burgundy and Alsatian wine grapes but, yes, I agree with you that the context of that notability should be made clear. Thank you for stopping by, taking the time to look things over and posting your thoughts. I agree Doerner farm is a neat nugget however I can't find anything to back it other than other wikis and the like. The next time I'm in Douglas County I'll stop by the museum. They have (or at least had) an exhibit on wine, mostly local and a bit historical. If the exhibit talks about this I'll see if I can find out who put the exhibit together and see if they have sources for the information. Regarding grapes do you have recommendations for sources regarding the grapes a region produces? I could reference 101 winery/vineyard web pages to account for product but I know business pages are often avoided as reference material. The fact that they produce Grüner Veltliner I can personally verify, I've been to the winery mentioned. That said I know the statement about it being the first commercial US Grüner Veltliner will likely be contentious so I will find more than just the one news paper article.
