Zanpakutou

There's rumor that details about his zanpakutou were released in the Wii guidebook. Can anyone confirm this? Kurotsuchi mayuri 19:00, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Even if, that couldn't be taken as an offical source. Lord Air 07:15, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't have to be official, it just needs to be reliable. Kraft Foods could make a press release announcing new information about Ulquiorra and that information could be cited... though admittedly, one would find such a souce quite unusual. –Gunslinger47 08:16, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Exactly: reliable source. And your example wasn't a realiable source. Anyway, I don't remember saying anything against a citation.. just remember what's official and what's not. Lord Air 03:23, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
My point is being "official" has nothing to do with reliability. Secondary sources are acceptable. –Gunslinger47 03:50, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
How is a Wii guidebook not reliable? 70.138.167.143 (talk) 02:12, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Image

I don't know why the filepath suddendly "doesn't matter", but the image doesn't show up without the proper filepath. That would communicate to me that the filepath does matter. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Biokinetica (talkcontribs).

It works for me regardless of whether a space or an underscore is there, and every other form of link in Wikipedia is the same way. For instance Characters in Bleach vs. Characters_in_Bleach. --tjstrf talk 23:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
It shouldn't make a difference. Besides, the picture was origninally uploaded without an underscore. // DecaimientoPoético 23:41, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Whether or not it shouldn't desn't matter; it does make a difference. -Biokinetica 00:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

No it doesn't. --tjstrf talk 00:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

What does this look like to you? And if it really doesn't matter, then why won't you leave the edit alone? -Biokinetica 00:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

It looks like your browser isn't keeping up. The Wiki formatting allows for underscores to be replaced with spaces to no ill effect. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 00:23, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

"Isn't keeping up"; what a wonderful, descriptive explanation. But you still haven't answered the subsequent question. -Biokinetica 00:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I thought so. To be clearer, however, it means that your browser simply gave up on loading the image. Happens to me a lot. As for the "_", it's the principal of the thing. Underscores are evil. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 00:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

What the effing hell? "...the principle of the thing. Underscores are evil"? What kind of logic is that? And if this really happens so much, then maybe wiki's infallible formatting shouldn't be trusted anymore... -Biokinetica 00:35, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

You obviously weren't here when the underscore army attempted to run a coup on the servers. If you had, you would understand why underscores must be eliminated on sight. We lost many good editors that day to their vicious subtextual claws. --tjstrf talk 00:44, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
This is why it doesn't matter:
Image location without the underscore
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c1/Ulquiorra_mugshot.jpg/250px-Ulquiorra_mugshot.jpg
Image location with the underscore [1]
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c1/Ulquiorra_mugshot.jpg/250px-Ulquiorra_mugshot.jpg
The supplied URL in both cases is identical. You might be encountering an obscure bug. I suggest analyzing the source code in both cases and attempting to determine why your browser is refusing to render the page properly. If you can't solve the problem yourself, I suggest compiling a bug report to submit to MediaZilla. Regardless of the explanation, the proper method is without the underscore and it's not going to be changed to accommodate one (possibly) broken browser. –Gunslinger47 00:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
To add to that, the image being skipped by the browser is a client-side glitch, not a server-side one, and can be easily corrected with a simple refresh. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 00:42, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

No, it can't be "easily corrected with a simple refresh", because it never shows up.

"Regardless of the explanation, the proper method is without the underscore" -Proper without an explanation; so these are the people i'm dealing with. An edit that supposedly doesn't matter due to an infallible server being reverted simply because the one doing so is scared of underscores. What do you call this? -Biokinetica 20:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Have you tried loading the image, and then viewing the page? Because it works for everyone else. And there is no difference between spaces and underscores in Wikipedia links, ever, so you can't blame the server. --tjstrf talk 21:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Origin of name

I have recently found out that Ulquiorra's name may have come from place names like Parque Natural de Urquiola and Urkiola which both come from the Basque language in Spain. Do you guys think this is original research or that it has some obvious and indisputable basis? Gdo01 21:21, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

While there is probably a correlation, it is fairly inconsequential to the character, and thus the article. Until Kubo Tite comes out himself and says, "Oh, and the Arrancar names are European Architects. Cool, huh :D," it's just speculation, albeit likely speculation. - SilverBelial 05:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

- - - - - - - - The word Urkiola means "birch tree", which is a gray tree with quite fine green leaves. The word Urkiola is descended from German Roots, with Urk coming from Birka/Bhurk. Such a curious name he has,"Birch Ship". - Note By Sveuno Houxville —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.238.196.180 (talk) 04:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Vasto Lorde

Is he a vasto lorde or not? cause it is kinda obvious that his mask does resembles thatĻ

However much his mask resembles it, until we have actual confirmation in canon, it remains speculation. - SilverBelial 00:25, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

know who else had a helmet similar to the silouhette? il forte...not a vastro lorde. it could be implying he's a vastro lorde, it could mean absolutely nothing too. look at the silouhettes in the manga of all the espada as shawlong talked about them...only grimmjow and ulquiorra's silouhettes match up. all the other espada don't match up to a silouhette...silouhette means nothing until stated otherwise. --Grimjaw 00:48, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

While we can't include speculation in the article its obvious by now that his special light green cero is indicative of him being a vaste-lorde; change in color usually means higher power. Think of blue getsuga tensho in shikai, and black in bankai —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.238.175.221 (talk) 12:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

And every single power increase means he was a vasto lorde, right? And we definitely know that it's a Cero, even though it seems to be some sort of energy thing that he just throws around, right? Seriously, gtfo. 70.138.167.143 (talk) 02:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

4th espada faggotry

ok can we lock this and hollows in bleach or something this is idiotic at this point. we spell it out for them and they still do it. i don't think i can dumb it down anymore than i did...its damn near broken down barney style. 4th is unconfirmed...PERIOD. i know i've seen temporary locks on other articles anyone know how to do that? --Grimjaw 07:15, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

You must be an admin to protect or semi-protect (block anons and really new people) pages. Problem is that the WP:RFPP process is slow, and that since the RAW will probably be out very soon it's sort of a waste of effort. Plus soon we'd be doing it every week. But sure, if you know an admin, go ahead and ask. --tjstrf talk 07:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

ok NOW i have something to support this shit http://img137.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2716dc1.jpg see how easy that is u idiots? --Grimjaw 07:25, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

lol, I was about to post that same pic. Beat me to it. --tjstrf talk 07:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Schiffer source?

What's the source for the last name? I wake up after yesterday's almost-edit-war over it, and the page has been MOVED, and the Schiffer added to the page in a spot or two, while there's a comment that's also been added about it not being verified. Too early in my morning to be so confused. ): lol Nique talk 12:14, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

There are spoiler pictures in the edit summaries. This particular one is here: http://img83.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2717oe7.jpg -- Ynhockey (Talk) 13:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Ah, didn't see those. Thanks! ^^; Nique talk 14:03, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I just checked Schiffer in my german dictionary. Its german for 'boatman/bargeman'. Kubo has some weird names for arrancarr —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RedEyesMetal (talkcontribs) 17:21, 12 May 2007 (UTC).

"Schiffer" spelling

I gotta say, "Schiffer" is a weird way to translate SHIFA, especially since it is not only a real last name, but a German one (Hueco Mundo seems to be pretty much Spanish-themed). Any thoughts? 66.214.233.19 16:21, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

That's Shifā. -ā is usually transliterated as -er. Is there a Spanish-sounding last name which is similar? If not, I don't really see any other logical transliteration. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 16:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Oops, missed the elongation. Hm, I've no clue then. I guess it makes sense until we get an official translation (if we ever do). 66.214.233.19 18:30, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
If you pay a close attention, you will see that the end of the name is a "フアー" and not a "ファー", so, is more likely the sound will be "fuaa" then "fer" ou "faa". I'm with the Shifua word that people are pointing out (an arabic word that means "one who open ways" or something like that) - Access Timeco 18:56, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
No. It is a large Fu and a small A. If it were a large A then it would line up with the Fu. The romaji and pronunciation is "Shifaa" Kangarugh22 19:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Also, Claudia Schiffer's name is written in katakana as クラウディア・シファー. The same way Ulquiorra's name is spelled. Kangarugh22 19:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
everyone says the arrancar all have spanish names and thats totally wrong. their zanpakuto do for the most part, but not all arrancar names are actually spanish. shawlong qufang is chinese, wonderweiss margera is german (even more reason ulquiorras name could be german), grimmjow jaggerjack is more american than anything and so forth. don't super-impose a pattern that doesn't exist. --Grimjaw 03:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Grimjaw's right. The Spanish motif doesn't seem to apply to the names of arrancar individuals. Further, the names of individual hollows don't appear to follow the motif either. It's only Hollow-related terms that follow it. The second paragraph to Hollow (Bleach) should probably be changed to reflect this. –Gunslinger47 04:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
According to "http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/bleach/heat5/" Ulquiorra's name is spelt "Cifer" - Raf 10:46, 25 December 2007

Honestly i thought it was "Scheiffer"...

Ahhh...I see, it isn't actually "Schiffer", or "Cifer", since the latter sounds more like "cypher." Obviously, the pronunciation of the "C" is more like "Ch", so the correct spelling is actually "Ćifer." The fact that they added "C" instead of "Ć" is an extremely common mistake to make, even among many Europeans. The fact that I'm Bosnian sort of proves that. XD Don't take this as speculation on my part, its experience. =) Okies, just a wee bit more information in case you all have any doubts. :3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%86

Lol, how did I know someone was going to edit that out? Its no different than saying "Its Raito, not Light!!!" =_=

Zanpakuto

Is there a real need to add a section regarding the Zanpakuto when it has not even been shown yet? - 05:57, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

It's a standard. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 07:57, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Its not a standard. Its a waste of space. =/ But, its not like anyone can do anything about it, or against raging fanboys and Wikitards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.25.23 (talk) 08:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

ISBNs

The citations in this article need a lot more details. (Author, year, publisher, ISBN, etc.) take a look at {{cite book}} and {{Citation}} for examples of what kinds of information this article's citations are missing - the latter can be used for any chapters that are not yet published in books. Specific chapters may not have ISBNs, but they can be cited as "Chapter x in so-and-so book/magazine, ISBN/ISSN###". -Malkinann 22:10, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Having the ISBNs, author, and year isn't really necessary and makes the article look like a mess. All the info we need is the volume, chapter, and page numbers. // DecaimientoPoético 22:14, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
ISBNs are clearly optional not all articles must have them, they are just bureocratic cruft. Author on the other hand is important, year not really. - 23:11, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

The refs look like a complete mess now, plus they are incorrect. Just because a certain detail can be found on page X in chapter Y, doesn't mean it will be fonud on the same page in the corresponding volume. We need to fix these refs asap - so that they are correct and readable. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 22:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
