Would it be correct to move from The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain to Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain? DWaterson 21:37, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's been no objection, so I will move it per WP naming conventions. DWaterson 11:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name change to George Hinchliffe's Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain?

[edit]

I've noticed today a couple of theatres (e.g. Lowry, Manchester and De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill) in the UK listing forthcoming UoGB events as "George Hinchcliffe's Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain". Is this an official name change or some means of distinguishing it further from what might be called imitators such as the Germany-based UK Ukulele Orchestra who were involved in an English High Court case with UoGB and got banned from playing under that name in the UK for 'passing off'? Having searched Google I haven't found any obvious news, just a variety of events. The UoGB's own website now bears the name "George Hinchcliffe's Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain" at the top of the main page (with George Hinchcliffe in smaller print and the rest in larger capital letters) but refers to them by their shorter trademarked name elsewhere as do most of the theatre events. It may simply be like a promoter. If we decide to mention this naming on the Wikipedia article, I think that if it's mentioned at all, we should only list it as an "also known as" and perhaps include a disambiguation redirect to Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. As George Hinchcliffe's name appears on the page already, it should still find the right page if entered into the search box by any names. Dynamicimanyd (talk) 11:25, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ukes used by the UOGB

[edit]

I’m a fan of musical instruments an even make Ukes myself. Just saw the UOGB in the Villages Florida. Absolutely loved them. My question is what brand instruments do they play? Any special strings? Thank you very much. Doc Chubinski (260)437-2805. Dennischubinski@gmail.com. 2601:883:8081:1B50:C4BB:45FD:4A27:4F1 (talk) 16:46, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doc Chubinski. Firstly I must advise you that Wikipedia and its talk pages are not discussion forums, most experienced editors here would immediately delete your edit. The talk page is meant to be used to improve the article. Regarding details concerning the instruments they play I think that you are more qualified than me. (I have been the main recent contributor of the article). ~ BOD ~ TALK 17:50, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
