Why Ukku-Tanhish?

[edit]

The name is not mentioned in the sources used for cites: E. Ianica does not mention this name. Scheil 1931 has Uk-ku ta-hx-es. Where did the article title come from? Pinging @AnnGWik: Викидим (talk) 06:08, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Викидим This page was an old redirect created back in 2010 and it was linked to in an old revision for the List of Elamite kings here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Elamite_kings&oldid=476026046). Ukku-Tanhish, Ukkutahesh, Ukkutahieš, Ukku-Takhesh, Ukku-tahiš, and Uk-ku ta-hx-es all refer to the same third king named on the Susanian Dynastic List. A lot of these names are written differently depending on the source (which also resulted in a great deal of confusion for me). I figured that I could create an article for this particular king as I did with the other first three Awanite kings named on the Susanian Dynastic List and the two Awanite kings named on the Sumerian King List. I was actually planning to continue working on these articles and hoping that others would eventually join in. I was also planning to create articles for each and every one of the kings named on the Susanian Dynastic List including those of the Shimashki dynasty and hopefully be able to develop some sort of continuity working my way up to the Sukkalmah dynasty and beyond. Part of the reason for me doing this is that I feel a significant level of confusion when it comes to the continuity of Elamite kings especially when it comes to the rulers not named on either regnal list (such as the shakkanakkus of the Akkadian Period introduced in between the reigns of Luh-ishan and Puzur-Inshushinak). I have also noticed a great deal of universal confusion especially when it comes to the sukkals and sukkalmahs comparable to the confusion that one might experience when attempting to wrap their head around how the continuity among the kings from the Sumerian King List is supposed to work. Hopefully: the creation of these articles for each individual king should help clear things up a bit. If you feel that these articles are not helpful: please tell me now. Thank you. Replace with a redirect?

[edit]

The article Awan dynasty appears to have all the same information in the convenient tabular form. Is there anything here that is not in the dynasty article and cannot be placed in the said table? If not, perhaps, the article should be WP:BLARed? Pinging @AnnGWik: Викидим (talk) 07:01, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
