Lies about reasons for assimilation

[edit]

As usual in topics related to Serbia, we see a lie that Albanians were forcefully assimilated although we know that hundred of thousands of Albanians lived in 1990s Serbia without a brick of assimilation. Even people from this village know that they were assimilated because they were surrounded by Bosniak villages. There are numerous villages of all ethnicities that are surrounded by villages of other majority group and minority usual gets assimilated. There was no war in this area, there was no ethnic cleansing. Where is the source for claim that some form of assimilation happened in 1990s? What makes 1990s different then 1970s or 1950s or 2020s? Who made assimilation? Serbs or Bosniaks? Especially in 1990s when relations between Serbs and Bosniaks were at it lowest in History? Why would Serbs assimilate Albanians into Bosniaks? If it was not Serbs, why would Serbs let Bosniak nationalism flourish in 1990s Serbia? I don't get it. Something does not add up. I think this is a lie that is usual on topics related to Serbs and Albanians and it is there to justify bad things that happened and are happening. There was no force assimilation, village is in walking distance from ethnic Albanian lands. Albanians in rural Serbia were not afraid to be Albanians even during 1990s. Albanians outside conflict area were not persecuted. Even if some Serbs wanted to do somethin to Albanians in Ugao, Albanians would have protection from Bosniaks. Ugao is just another Balkan village where inhabitants assimilated into majority group. Nothing happened in 1990s beside people having to watch TV propaganda or seeing army passing bye in distance. Would like to see proof that something happened. There are similar villages in Srem and Dalmatia where Albanians assimilated into Serbs and Croats. There are Bosniaks and Serbs who assimilated into Abanians in Kosovo. What makes this village different? What event makes assimilation that happened here different? What event in 1990s? I would like an answer. Without that answer, it seems that we have nationalistic myth in this article. It is important to address this issue in every single article on Wikipedia, because myth of of widespread persecution of Muslims by Serbs took dangerous levels and is fueling new conflicts. You may think Wikipedia is not important, but hundreds of people that stem from this village read this article. They could make false assumption that Serbs are their enemies because of 1990s. But as far as we see sources, nothing happened here in 1990s. People remember their Albanian roots, they lost language but are still Muslims. They had Albanian newspapers and TV even during Milosevic. They could study or go to High School in Albanian language few dozen kilometers away in Kosovo if they wanted. They did not have Albanian language schools, just like isolated minority enclaves did not have their respective language in schools no matter what nation they belonged. I would like an answer if I am wrong. Thank you. 77.243.30.11 (talk) 12:06, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
