Merge Proposal
[edit]This is a very non-notable build of Ubuntu, perhaps the main Ubuntu article is more appropriate? 69.245.242.199 (talk) 02:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- The Ubuntu article is already very big. Also, many other variants of Ubuntu have their own articles. -- Jorge Peixoto (talk) 18:45, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with JorgePeixoto, do not clutter the article about ubuntu... Jerebin (talk) 20:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- As of Ubuntu 8.10, it is actually officially a part of the Ubuntu Server Edition. It comes on the Ubuntu Server Edition ISO. So, I think it should be merged with a page about the Ubuntu Server Edition. However, there does not seem to be one of these pages currently. Ubuntu JeOS does not warrant it's own page without first there being an Ubuntu Server Edition wikipage. And if there were one of these, then we would just put JeOS under the Server Edition wiki page (not as a separate one like this). So, for now I think we should just merge it with the main Ubuntu Article, or at least someone should create an Ubuntu Server Edition page and put Ubuntu JeOS there -- one of these needs to be done. Remember (!): it's pretty much the same thing as the main Ubuntu as far as a lot of the info is concerned (like the info in that side panel): it has the same release dates, the same package versions, the same kernel versions, etc... so we are duplicating unnecessary information here (especially in that panel on the right), which is a problem. New Version
[edit]A new version came out, is there some reason it's not referenced here? --129.138.30.40 (talk) 03:12, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Update Request
[edit]The official website now redirects to Ubuntu Server page. Has this distro been discontinued? — Alexander Konovalenko (talk) 07:21, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Ubuntu JeOS does indeed appear to be dead - its Launchpad page is not showing activity since 2010 and the JeOSVMBuilder help page has a note saying it has been discontinued and to use the regular server install. 87.115.106.140 (talk) 06:39, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
