Sand Pebbles
[edit]this page makes reference to the film "Sand Pebbles" with contrast to the USS San Pablo, stating that the ship referred to in this film (and former book) is a fictional ship. Although the story is fictional, it is based on an acutal gunboat called the San Pablo which was used as a patrol boat on the Yangtzee River, China. This ship is infact a former spanish vessel, captured in the 1898 American-Spanish War, and commissioned as an American Ship. therefore, it should be specified that this ship, as tradition for most Navies, has assumed the name of former ship to continue its tradition and heritage, and the is not a fictional boat from the early 1900's.
