Missing Time on this history of the 'Pan

I served onboard the USS Saipan from February '87 to Nov '88, and I swear to God that we were in dry dock from approx Oct 87 to at least Nov '88 for a major overhaul/refitting.

The 144-foot motor yacht's engineroom was reportedly engulfed in flames, and the eight-member crew was in peril. Seven members of the crew made it to life rafts while the skipper remained aboard to continue communications with SAIPAN, which proceeded immediately to the scene and deployed her own ready life boat to rescue the crew. Two hours after the initial distress call, the crew of HUNTRESS, six men and two women from the United States, England and Australia, were safely aboard SAIPAN and in good condition. While SAIPAN'S medical team looked after the crew, the ship quickly organized an emergency fire fighting team to battle the blaze aboard HUNTRESS and attempt to save the vessel. HUNTRESS'S master and another crew member were provided protective clothing and joined DC2. Joseph Riggs, USN and his attack team in fighting the blaze. "We tried to isolate the fire. We sent over enough equipment to fight the fire for a long time if we had to." said SAIPAN'S Damage Control Assistant, LCDR. Charles Landrum, USN. "We had an electrical fire that engulfed the engineroom," said HUNTRESS First Mate John Butler, an American. "We soon realized it was more than we could handle." 1M Butler said that HUNTRESS had been entertaining guests on the Greek island of Kefallina the day before and the vessel was enroute to Italy. "We knew an American Navy ship was in the area in the afternoon... and the U.S. Navy's response was tremendous. God we were lucky. None of us speak Greek. We couldn't have asked for any more than to have a Navy warship in the area," Butler said. The rescue occurred 98 miles southwest of Corfu and 57 miles due east of the Greek island of Nisos.
