It might be nice to add what class of ship the Northampton was originally planned to be. 151.200.57.31 (talk) 22:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- The keel for the USS Northampton clc 1 was laid down as a Baltimore class cruiser in 1944. Building was postponed due to the end of ww11. Building was resumed in 1951 and she was launched in 1953. The classification was changed to CC 1 when it was designated as a tactical command ship. The source of this information is the 1965 cruise book, the naval museum at the Washington navy yard and my service on the Northampton. 2600:100D:A0EE:815A:602C:51DB:9C58:B730 (talk) 03:47, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
