Tow of the USS Douglas H. Fox in 1947
[edit]My dad was on the USS Douglas H. Fox when it hit a mine off Italy in September 1947. I thought he told me it was towed back to port by a British ship, but that doesn't match the wikipedia entry. (He died in 2007 so I can't ask him again.) He also told me the Fox was then towed back to Boston from Italy, with a skeleton crew of which he was one, and I think he said it was the longest tow in naval history. If that's true, and if the Luiseno towed it, as mentioned on the Fox page, you might want to include that in your article.
