Classification
[edit]Do you really want this article at "MMD-32"? Apparently the ship was reclassified "DM-32" in 1944, between launching and commissioning, and reclassified "MMD-32" in 1969, long after her decommissioning in 1946 and less than two years before being stricken in 1970. —wwoods 06:11, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Misc Edits
[edit]- Eliminated references to Korean and Vietnam wars - the ship was decomissioned in 1946 and never saw service again. - The ship was Sumner class, not Robert H. Smith The Robert H. Smith was a Sumner class Destroyer as was the USS Lindsey. The Robert H. Smith was the first of the Sumner Class Destroyers to be converted to Destroyer Minelayers. This data was provided by my dad, who served on the Lindsey in WWII and who has organized several reunions of Lindsey shipmates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackganssle (talk • contribs) 19:16, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
- Jack-hello! My Dad, John Pinkerton, served on the Lindsey as well and was there when it was hit by the planes. Can you ask your dad if he remembers serving with John, or has any old pictures of him? He dies when I was 21 and I have very little info about when he was in the war, as it was a very painful time of his life that he didn't want to talk about! 2603:3023:4A4:A000:D5F3:4183:EA00:E1DF (talk) 04:18, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
