War era pics needed, and an infobox

[edit]

We need an infobox (which I may be able to work in) and a war era picture of this boat. If a new picture is added, it may be a good idea to move current pic down where the talk of it becoming a museum ship is currently. Donovan Ravenhull 14:42, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've got an incomplete info box here (copied from the Gato and modded to the best of my ability). We need somebody more skill and knowledge to complete it. Donovan Ravenhull 14:53, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

War patrol summary

[edit]

While I think that the Summary of War Patrols section is a nice addition, I want to make the following points:

  • Other columns should be added. Suggestions:
    • Patrol number
    • Commanding Officer (CO)
    • Ships (and tonnage) credited during the War
    • Ships (and tonnage) credited by JANAC
    • Notes
  • this is the only Gato class article I've seen that has it. Should a similar table be added to the other US World War II submarine articles? This would involve a rather significant overhaul, since the articles for the Salmon, Tambor, Balao, and Tench classes would need to be modified.

How about adding in an "External links" section?

At the minimum, what about adding in a link to:
Battleship Memorial Park's website at http://www.ussalabama.com/
The website I've been working on for the SS-228 (complete with all 13 war patrol reports) at http://www.drum228.org/

I'm very new to the inners of Wiki, please be kind.  :)
