1966 through 1969 I was a Yeoman on board the Chevalier.
[edit]After boarding the Chevalier in Dec 1966, we were sent to San Francisco for yard work. We left for Viet Nam in August 1967. While there we were in support of several carriers. We spent 90 days on Operation Sea Dragon, shelling North Viet Nam along the Haiphong coast, making 5 attacks per night. With us were 5 other Destroyers 2 cruisers and 1 Battleship. Spent the Christmas / New Years in Hong Kong 1967/1968. Made second deployment 1968 to Viet Nam, I was transferred to Fleet Training Command in San Diego August 1968. Ship returned to San Diego in February 1968, before transfer to South Korea.
