Other USS Adams
[edit]Is there any special information on the USS Adams that is not displayed on this page? Anything of a Maritimers interest?
Columbiad
[edit]According to Roosevelt in the Naval War of 1812, USS Adams was armed with Columbiads, not cannon. http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/9104/pg9104.txt Can anyone else verify this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.228.210.48 (talk) 03:33, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- Columbiads—which are just lowercase when they aren't starting sentences—are cannon, so I don't really see your point.Mr Spear (talk) 01:12, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Tangier
[edit]See Constitution's page for the involvement of the Adams in gunboat diplomacy in Tangier harbor and its talk page for its possible involvement in a raid on or around Tangier to rescue American sailors enslaved by the Moroccans.—Mr Spear (talk) 01:10, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Per the Nautilus page, the squadron's gunboat diplomacy at Tangier also led to the reaffirmation/renewal of the Moroccan–American Treaty of Friendship.—Mr Spear (talk) 01:25, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Massachusetts

Namesake
[edit]It seems very strange that the US would commission two frigates named after the same person in the same year. Can we find better sources as to the name? Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 23:39, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
