Discontinued?

[edit]

Were these awards discontinued? I don't see any record of them being given out for 2011. Web searches return lots of results for previous years, but nothing for the most recent year which seems odd. The USOC site is full of press releases boasting about previous awards, but not even a passing explanation of why they didn't give them out this past January. Old USOC Athlete with a Disability awards??

[edit]

'Paralympian of the Year' only recently awarded under that name, but USOC apparently awarded Sarah Reinertsen 'Best Female Athlete with a Disability' in the early 90s. Presumably not a one off, but can't (yet) find any records online. Would be great to have a reference, and could be of broader interest. Sportygeek (talk) 11:51, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed: USOC Athlete With A Disability awards were definitely a thing in the 90s. I just found another winner accidentally: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lindsay-nielsen/15/714/943. In her case, 1997. Sportygeek (talk) 04:08, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
