separate page for 1982-89 teams

[edit]

Bender235 posted the following on my talk page: "It wouldn't have hurt if you'd discussed this move first on Talk:USA Today All-USA high school football team. --bender235 (talk) 08:06, 20 January 2011 (UTC)".[reply]

Bender 235, I apologize for not discussing the move on the article's discussion page. It never occurred to me to do so, because there was a note at the top of the article that said something to the effect of "this page is x kilobytes (or a similar word) long and should be split into smaller articles." As I made edits to the page, I noticed that it took several minutes each time I clicked on "Show preview", "Show changes", and "Save page". I then realized that that was probably why a previous editor had posted the note at the top re the page being too long and the suggestion it be split into smaller articles. I then came up with the idea of creating a separate page for the 1980s teams. After I did so, the note about the page being too long, etc., disappeared, so I thought I had done a good thing. I was planning on creating a page for the 1990s teams, but I will now wait for comments from you and other editors. Eagle4000 (talk) 02:46, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Smaller articles

[edit]

I think to make multiple smaller articles so that it isn't just a huge page, we should just make each decade a new page, since 1980-89 has a page. We should make pages for 1990-99, 2000-09 and leave the rest on the current page.-- Ice (talk) 02:55, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
