Film found?
[edit]According to this page, the film has been found. I'm no expert so I can't confirm if it is in fact the original film, but I feel this should be added. --24.241.112.138 (talk) 02:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Lostmedia.wikia.com is not a reliable source. And what do you mean by found? You mean the bit about the 1989 version having been ripped and uploaded onto mega.co.nz "for all to enjoy"? If so, I don't think that should be added. Braincricket (talk) 05:11, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
The name of the film...
[edit]DESPITE what Dean Alioto says in the Found Footage Critic interview regarding the name, in the copy I have seen it is called, "The McPherson Tapes" in the opening credits, NOT, "UFO Abduction". Almost all sources refer to the original version as, "The McPherson Tapes", NOT, "UFO Abduction". I don't personally feel confident making an edit contradicting what the creater of the film says is true (based on one valid source), but I believe he is incorrect (maybe purposely). - Furthermore, on Dean Alioto's own webpage (https://www.deanaliotodirector.com/copy-of-b-i-o), he refers to the film as "The Mcpherson Tape" or "The Mcpherson Tape (aka UFO Abduction)", NOT as "UFO Abduction" or "UFO Abduction (AKA The McPherson Tapes". Pretty conclusive to my mind.
- I am aware of two different blu ray releases (official to my knowledge), both of which call it "The Mcpherson Tape".
- To be clear, I am referring to the FIRST version. I don't care for the second version under any name. Rsngfrce (talk) 05:32, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- Please excuse my alternating calling it "The Mcpherson Tape" and "The Mcpherson Tapes"... "The McPherson Tape" is correct. Rsngfrce (talk) 05:38, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- In the 2021 documentary "Unknown Dimension -The Story Of Paranormal Activity", Dean Alioto HIMSELF refers to the first version as "UFO Abduction" AND "The McPherson Tape", which directly contradicts what he said in the FoundFootageCritic interview (only the second version ever being called "The McPherson Tape" (as a working title) but ultimately being called "Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County".
- I would revert the edit that started this CONFUSION, but it requires a manual revert, which is beyond my knowledge. Rsngfrce (talk) 06:03, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- I don't agree though don't object to the TITLE being changed back to UFO Abduction as has been done. I did my best to explain the title ambiguity in the rest of my edit. Rsngfrce (talk) 22:33, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- Please excuse my alternating calling it "The Mcpherson Tape" and "The Mcpherson Tapes"... "The McPherson Tape" is correct. Rsngfrce (talk) 05:38, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
