Merger proposal
[edit]Does this page really warrant a separate article? The only thing that it really mentions of value is that UC Davis offers over 80 graduate programs, and a small bit of history. Looking at the Office of Graduate Studies website, it doesn't seem that "Graduate Studies" is a separate division, but rather an office that organizes the programs offered by the various colleges of the University. Much of the information included here doesn't really seem to be cited correctly such as the two citations about being "among the top in the nation." Most of the information here is irrelevant or can be merged with the main University of California, Davis article. Furthermore, seeing as how most (if not all) of it was written by a marketing person in the office of graduate studies, it seems that it has been written like an advertisement and lacks WP:NPOV. 76.193.159.156 (talk) 06:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I think that some information in the article is irrelevant.(Lizhunki5 (talk) 01:50, 26 October 2013 (UTC))
I do not think there are a lot of common mistakes to fix in the article. However, the article contains contentious and unsourced material which should be removed. Also, the article needs additional inline citations for verification.(Majing9 (talk) 03:10, 26 October 2013 (UTC))
- Support. My rule of thumb is: if any article resembles an official website, or is entirely referenced by affiliated sources it probably is overly detailed and unwarranted. Every graduate division is not notable, even the good ones, and can easily be incorporated into the UC Davis article, with trimming, keeping WP:UNDUE in mind. --Animalparty-- (talk) 21:57, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Support I do not not see significant imformation that would warrant a separate article. This can easily be merged with the main. Reywas92Talk 23:35, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Support per WP:Notability and the above arguments. TritonsRising (talk) 20:32, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Support. Absolutely. It should be incorporated into the main page. Same goes for a wiki page on any school's graduate programs.--TDJankins (talk) 00:42, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
I merged it into the main page.--TDJankins (talk) 02:24, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Clarification Needed
[edit]"The University of California graduate division has a long history, particularly at the Berkeley, Davis, and San Francisco campuses."
How can the UC Davis graduate division have a long history at the Berkeley and San Francisco campuses?
"This longstanding academic tradition began in the fall of 1925, when 12 students received graduate degrees from the College of Agriculture through a partnership with the Graduate Division at University of Berkeley [sic].[3][4] Over the years, the UC system's inter-campus graduate group programs continued to grow, interact, and collaborate. The first graduate degrees were awarded from the UC Davis campus in June 1949.[5]"
If 12 students received graduate degrees from the College of Agriculture in 1925, how could the first graduate degrees from the UC Davis campus have been awarded in 1949? The relationship between the College of Agriculture and the UC Davis campus isn't clear. ˘ | ˘ Hwajaetalk • contribs 15:25, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
