Computational method for the weighted average AADT
To figure the 5,188-vehicle number quoted in the article, I did the following:
- Exported the 2010 edition of the Annual Average Daily Traffic Report for US 2 as an Excel worksheet
- Using the BMP and EMP (beginning and ending mileposts), I added a column that calculated each segment length.
- I then added a column that multiplied the segment lengths by the segments' AADT values, giving a weighted AADT value for each segment.
- I summed the segment lengths and the weighted AADT values.
- The total weighted AADT value was then divided by the total length, producing the weighted AADT value used as the overall average reported in the article.
The spreadsheet is available upon request. Imzadi 1979 → 23:47, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Question regarding Michigan highway articles
I've been reading some articles on Michigan highways to sate my own curiosity and I've noticed that some of them seem to say that they start in Washington despite the routes being entirely within Michigan. What happened here? Did I miss something? Apologies if this is a dumb question. 2600:1700:9861:3980:240E:1522:13CE:6CE3 (talk) 01:40, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- US 2 does start in Washington state though. It runs, in order, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Wisconsin again, back to Michigan and ends. It resumes in New York and passes through Vermont and New Hampshire before terminating finally in Maine. It's not a Michigan-only highway. We just wrote this article about the segments within the one state. Imzadi 1979 → 03:11, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
