U.S. Route 1A should merge with Bannered routes of U.S. Route 1. There is no reason to break-up Alternate Routes that happen to use "1A" as oppose to regular alternate routes and other bannered routes like business. --WashuOtaku (talk) 17:17, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's been over a year now and I believe most road editors noticed now that North Carolina does their alternate routes with a "A" in the shield as oppose with a banner for most alternate routes. However, we do not have a separate page for US 74A, US 221A, etc. So does this still make any sense that 1A is separated from the rest of the bannered routes? --WashuOtaku (talk) 15:45, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

US 1A in Providence, RI

Is there any source for the routing of US 1A in Providence, RI? There is no signage in the field along that route, so that can't be used as a source. In particular, it says: "US 1A uses the one-way pairing of the East Providence Expressway eastbound while the westbound traffic is routed along Water, James, and South Main streets." Is there any source for that westbound routing? Since it sounds like US 1A SB exits I-195 WB at Exit 2, why doesn't it just turn left onto Point Street? Is there any indication that it really does go north on S. Main St, left onto James St, then left onto S. Water St, just to get back to Point St and make a right turn there? I checked the street view, and, like I said, there is no signage either way, but the left turn from S. Main St onto Point St is definitely legal. If nobody can provide a reliable source for this route, it should probably be deleted, and should just say that the route within Providence is not signed at all, and is not known to the general public. A break-out article has recently been created, but half of the information is also repeated here. I don't see the justification of a stand-alone article when the amount of new information could not simply be added here instead. --WashuOtaku (talk) 09:28, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: Saying half of the information is repeated here is quite a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Between the history and the route description, I feel like it would probably overload the main US 1A article. Additionally, there are many examples of standalone alternate routes including U.S. Route 1 Alternate (Trenton, New Jersey). I’d also like to point out that the US 1A (Wake Forest-Youngsville) is of the same length (13,500ish bytes) as that Trenton Alternate route.--Ncchild (talk) 12:46, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. I'm by no means advocating that all of the articles herein be split out into their own article, but in this instance, it wasn't done haphazardly. It's a decent article for a highway of this length. If it were me, I would summarize the new article in its entry on this list and remove the junction list. –Fredddie 13:03, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support both articles are short. The US 1A article is only a stub and the article we are merging is C-class, so it would definitely help bring that article up to C or possibly even B class. --Hurricane Tracker 495 23:35, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - There is nothing wrong with creating a standalone article for the section of US 1A between Wake Forest and Youngsville if enough information can be written to sustain a separate article, which appears to be the case here.
