1. At this time, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) began monitoring the newly christened Tropical Storm Helen. — "Christened" isn't typically a word we associate with "named". It is more of a religion word.

Impact

1. Peak rainfall in Honshu and Hokkaido reached 580 mm (23 in) and 790 mm (31 in) respectively — Typically when I see this sort of sentence, there is a comma before respectively.
