[edit]In the second picture in the Japanese article on this tank is a tank that for a long time has been called the type 98 medium tank. It`s not visible in the picture but an armored recovery vehicle which is based on the hull of a type 97 (装甲工作車 セリ) is pulling the vehicle out of a trench. Obviously there is the machine gun mounted in the front side portion of the turret however if looking closely, it can be seen that there are 6 road wheels and that in fact it is the hull of a type 97 medium tank. Also, since the 47mm cannon is not mounted and that there is a copula, a strong argument could be made that this was a prototype turret for the improved type 97 medium tank.
