Starting the article
[edit]There! TMM has been started. But as I expected it will need some cleanup. I have three images for this: one great, two not-so-much. Tried to upload it but the "fair use" rubbish resolutely barred my way. I was not able to find the score during my research, so I don't know for certain that it is lost. The song list is directly from the libretto, the additional songs were mentioned by the press but only Hell-of-a-noise's song was quoted in part. And the voice parts are reasonable guesses, based on the other repertoire of the performers and what else they were in. Workman and Cunningham we know for a fact, but the others...not so much. Also the references thing is fighting me. Can't figure out why it doesn't show. Done for the day. Slfarrell (talk) 18:10, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Changed my mind. Got the Cite error: The opening
<ref>
tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page). tags fixed. Slfarrell (talk) 18:26, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
There won't be any "fair use rubbish" if you choose the Public Domain license. I'll look into it later. I'm running for the plane! -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:36, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Have a good flight. I will try to use the PD license, but no guarantees. Also my snips from "Morning Post" and "Evening Standard" does not have pages numbers, nor does Coffin's book. Slfarrell (talk) 18:43, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Two photos added with success. This will need some tidying by new eyes, but I think it's an excellent start, if I may say so myself. Slfarrell (talk) 19:03, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I've added a little more, including another photo and a couple little things that needed correction. That's really all I want to do to the article, unless you think there might be more. Slfarrell (talk) 19:00, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ssilvers, we've been challenged. I made the mistake of a duplicate photo and now they want to delete the page. Help! I don't know how to fix it, but maybe you do? Slfarrell (talk) 21:02, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll B back on 16 August - will review then. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 10:54, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- I cleaned up the categories tags, and put in a couple of references. I want to link Morgan's obituary, but I can't find it online. Would it be appropriate? Slfarrell (talk) 19:16, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Sure you can link to any obit, as long as you know where it came from, date, etc. You can also link to your book, with appropriate page numbers. -- Ssilvers (talk) 13:01, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have started on the references for Wearing and Coffin. I don't know the page numbers, but I've asked Geoff Dixon, who has most Savoy books. He will know the answer. Till then, we must wait for some numbers, but I know for certain that those entries are there.
Now to clear up confusion. Roland Cunningham played Charmis for the Savoy run. Hayden Coffin played Charmis for the Strand run, plus the tour. He says so in his book, although his information about the Strand run is obviously wrong. In fact, I do not recall seeing page numbers in his book, but it is organised by year or by the shows he did, I don't remember which. Slfarrell (talk) 15:37, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Turns out Geoff does not have the books. But I asked about the R&W page, I'm sure he'll have that. So I'm gonna take out the page numbers until we can get them again. But I'm certain Coffin's book does not have page numbers. Slfarrell (talk) 17:41, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Page numbers needed
[edit]Slfarrell, would you please add page numbers for the Coffin and Wearing books? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:38, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- As I said before, Coffin did not have page numbers, or else I would have them. His book went by productions he was in. As for Wearing, I still haven't found it yet. I didn't keep any of these books, just copied what I needed and returned them. For the time being, why don't we just cite my book as the source until we get some page numbers? Slfarrell (talk) 19:10, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- There! All fixed and cited correctly. I don't think there's anything else to be done to the page, unless I've missed something. Slfarrell (talk) 20:23, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Temporary closing of this article
[edit]Can I request a temporary stop on this article? I am producing this work in three weeks and I want to avoid confusing of the critics and audience by saying the work is "lost" when it really isn't. The big reason is that if the truth comes to light, my production may be cursed before it gets out of the gate. Can we temporarily delete this page? I don't think anyone will miss it.
