How is this occupation, but sdf-held positions are not?

[edit]

Doesnt make sense. 2A02:8109:2C40:2FA4:6015:E147:B7DA:8678 (talk) 09:22, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The SDF is in their own country (Syria) while the Turkish army is invader (occupier), as simple as that. Ostirnim (talk) 19:59, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Except that many of the SDF leaders are also Turkish kurds who are exiled and trained in Qandil Iraq. 2607:9880:4277:FF02:50F7:94C7:8CE6:A638 (talk) 15:13, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What you say supports the term "Turkish occupation": both armies supposedly have Turkish nationals. Ostirnim (talk) 19:00, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pro-PKK Sources

This is an explicitly pro PKK website. It doesn't have an author's name on any of it's articles and contains extremely loaded language that is anti turkey. These are not Turkish identity cards, although integrated into the Turkish system they are clearly Syrian and have no Turkish symbol on them.2607:9880:4277:FF02:50F7:94C7:8CE6:A638 (talk) 16:19, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this articles uses both pro- and anti-Turkish sources. Applodion (talk) 16:25, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fake new is fake news. The "pro Turkey" outlets at least have the authors cited. ANFEnglishmobile and NPA Syria literally never use sources or even so much as mention the author and often use extremely emotionally charged rhetoric. 2607:9880:4277:FF02:D4FC:13D2:B368:82C7 (talk) 06:35, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They may have good reasons not to reveal the names of the authors, for example to protect them from falling victim to a drone attack. If they are killed by the Turkish army, neither the police nor the judiciary will be able to take action against the perpetrators or ensure justice. The pro-Turkish sources are also emotionally charged and rarely provide evidence. Ostirnim (talk) 19:11, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish occupation of northern SyriaTurkish intervention in the Syrian civil war – I propose this title change for two reasons: A) to be in line with: Wikipedia:NPOVTITLE. Türkiye and Syrian opposition groups (Syrian National Army) would argue that the Turkish military presence in Northern Syria is not an occupation at all. The Syrian government is the one arguing that it is an occupation. A middle ground between these two sides is that the Turkish military is just involved in the civil war. What is not NPOV is to simplify this immensely complicated situation by calling it a Turkish occupation. There is also the matter of: Wikipedia:CONSISTENT. This article title is not consistent with the article title for the US intervention in the Syrian civil war. Both Türkiye and the United States have troops on the ground in Syria, which were not invited by the government of Syria. The article about the United States' troop deployments takes a much more NPOV than this article does. Seisachtheia (talk) 15:26, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

oppose, sources on this page using current title name and not intervention as it will conflict with this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Turkish_involvement_in_the_Syrian_civil_war Shadow4dark (talk) 22:39, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, "Turkish intervention in the Syrian civil war" reads as a potentially much wider scope, and the current article seems scoped specifically to the occupation. CMD (talk) 09:10, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
