I'm having a difficult time finding resources that define the exact geographic parameters of Tunica Resorts (or the former Robinsonville). Part of this stems from the community being neither an incorporated village, town or city; nor an official census designated place (CDP). There is, it would seem, a specific census block group within Tunica County that relates to the area, but includes much more area than the casinos and immediate surroundings. Check out www.census.gov for detailed maps breaking down Tunica County, and specifically the area north of the Town of Tunica.

Also, all "town" references were removed from the article in relation to Tunica Resorts due to its aforementioned technical status, including its listing in the Towns in Mississippi category. Instead, the article has been given a Mississippi geography stub tag. Some wording throughout the article was tweaked for better flow, less repetitive use of certain words or phrases, and maintaining neutral point-of-view.

Because of the nature of how this area has developed, I think that it's important to keep this article in Wikipedia. However, it is that same nature — and the subsequent evolution into the geographic anomaly that it now is in Mississippi — which makes it a challenge to write a good article on the subject. History

More information on the history of the community — especially pre-casino years — is greatly needed. If for no other reason, such details will help define this article as more than a thinly-veiled advertisement for the area's casino strip.

On this subject, a credible reference (online or offline) is also needed for the official name change from Robinsonville to Tunica Resorts. I've noticed on mail from Resorts Tunica (the old Harrah's) that Tunica Resorts is the name applied to the ZIP code (38664) now, but it would be nice to have more than that to go on. According to a search for all cities in a ZIP code on the US Postal Service's website [1], Robinsonville, Tunica Resort, and Tunica Resorts are all acceptable city names applicable to 38664. — ArkansasTraveler 04:58, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I had a hard time finding anything that specifically referenced the name change. Indeed, I first found out about the name change when I went up there and saw the new road signs. I asked a desk clerk at my hotel about it, and he said, "Yeah, they changed the name a few weeks back, not that anyone ever called this 'Robinsonville' anyway." That's not exactly a credible source, but it's the best I have.

As for its history, I'm not sure there was much of a history, aside from the Hollywood, before the casinos came. It was pretty much the Hollywood, perhaps a railroad depot at one time (the old Illinois Central used to go through there along old U.S. 61), a church or two, and a crossroads. Wait... if you search the USPS for 38664, it says that the "actual city name" is Robinsonville, and Tunica Resort and Tunica Resorts are "acceptable city names". --NE2 05:29, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

We moved to Robinsoville / Tunica Resorts a couple of years ago. We were told by our closing attorney that the name Robinsonville was accepted by the federal govt as an unincorporated area of Mississippi and by the state. He explained to us that either the Tunica Chamber or The Tunica Convention and Visitor's Buearu changed the name to Tunica Resorts themselves. He said this process was not really legal as the area is not incorporated. As a resident of the area it is very frustrating as sometimes mail is returned to sender if it is addressed to Tunica Resorts even with the zip code of 38664. The attorney advised us to use Robinsonville but since we have a business we were advised to use Tunica Resorts. Until the area is incorporated I see this continuing to be a problem of confusion.

In the last few years the population of the Tunica Resorts / Robinsonville area has tripled + with casino employees and retirees from all over the country. With all things considered with RiverBend going in along the Desoto/Tunica county line the area can possibly jump to at least 10,000 people within the next few years. Need help on creating articles on Resorts Hotel and Casino Tunica MS, Hollywood Casino Tunica, and Fritzgreald's Tunica. Tried to to one on Resorts Tunica and it keeps getting deleted if anyone can create the articles please feel free to do so. They would make great articles. History

Robinsonville, MS was an important spot on the early Blues Music map.

Son House, Charlie Patton, Willie Brown, Robert Johnson, Fiddlin' Joe Martin, and Leroy Williams all played Blues Music around Robinsonville, Mississippi, though it was but a one-road town.

For this reason, and as more information becomes available, Robinsonville, MS, should not automatically redirect to Tunica Resorts, MS. Wax1xaw 00:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't have any problem with Robinsonville being under Tunica Resorts, however, the article definitely needs a section on the history of the Blues in the area, especially in regards to young Robert Johnson learning from Son House and Willie Brown. - Parsa (talk) 20:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Was it actually renamed?

Signs on US 61 and MS 3 say Robinsonville. The USPS lists Robinsonville as the preferred city. The only source given is a poorly-written puff piece, and the only other thing I can find is a 2009 tourist book that says it was "officially changed to Tunica Resorts several years ago". But in general the only official sources for an unincorporated community are the USPS and the county, and the USPS uses Robinsonville, while I can't find any relevant usage of either by the county. --NE2 17:47, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
