Issues
[edit]Both the main image of this article and the detail images in section "Tying" show a cross-over of the first bight's "working end" and its standing part. This clearly contradicts the mentioned "Notable Knot index" (section "See also") as well as the tying instructions (section "External links"). Maybe both of them are wrong - I can't decide that. But it is much more probable that they are right, and Wikipedia is wrong. Does anyone know a definitive reference? 92.74.5.213 (talk) 21:12, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- @92.74.5.213, 71.178.34.108, and Ferret: I agree - The picture and content of this article are not completely correct. 71.178.34.108 also has contributed to clarify this and convince me. Revert done by Ferret does not help. I will try to correct both picture and narrative when I have time.Cobanyastigi (talk) 13:04, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Cobanyastigi: The edit by 71.178.34.108 had to be reverted, it was not acceptable. We do not add direct personal commentary to articles in that way, or add notes for improvement or our "personal" thoughts. I agree the article needs work, but this was just one of several bad edits by that IP I had to revert. -- ferret (talk) 13:17, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
4th step/Somersault Hitch
[edit]The optional 4th step is a good addition to the knot and increases the security quite a bit, however there are no reliable sources for that step. I only found that Somersault Hitch on YouTube, in which the creator claims to have invented that knot and named it Somersault Hitch - so not a valid reference. I left it in for now though, because it is a valuable addition in my experience. WP:NOR - I leave that for others to re-decide... -Buz11 (talk) 07:45, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
