Notability issue
[edit]I'm an observer of Wikipedia policy and maybe I've read this incorrectly but what makes Tulip Siddiq notable? She doesn't hold any office and is just a candidate - which I'm not sure meets Wikipedia's [notability guidelines]. This seems like a puff piece to promote her candidacy. Very, very wordy me thinks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.181.132.48 (talk) 15:52, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Article too long?
[edit]This article seems to be full of unnecessary detail about someone who, so far, has achieved little of note, and hence is far too long, in my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.33.121 (talk) 19:55, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Unsourced content
[edit]There is a source for Siddiq being on the board of governors in 2013 (its a dead link, but presuming its ok). There is no source for the length of time that she served. Please do not add this content without a source. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 12:00, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Article rewrite suggestion 1 December 2017 in view of C4 News/ITN exposé on 28 November 2017
[edit](1.) Tulip Siddiq was (and still is) a relatively-obscure backbencher first elected in 2015, and who had only been briefly in the Shadow Labour opposition frontbench; and her various supposed "achievements" before first elected in 2015, even if sourced, should generally be "out"; otherwise, the article (as it is in its present form) would read like a pro-Tulip Siddiq, pro-Labour puff piece/canvassing page.
(2.) The Channel Four News (ITN)/Alex Thompson/Ben de Pear exposé (and her incident involving making a veiled threat to C4 News/ITN producer Daisy Ayliffe) first aired on 28 November 2017 was given unduly low prominence...her complete absence since the incident, one can argue, has proved that it might have in fact effectively ended her Parliamentary career.
(3.) The article awfully reads like it had (and still has been) been heavily edited/monitored/controlled/reacted directly by her own agent, aides and assistants and other Labour, Labour/Co-Op Labour-affiliated trade-union officials, canvassers, activists and stalwarts. --- 87.102.116.36 (talk) 15:03, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- I've removed {{COI}} and {{undisclosed paid}}. These make serious allegations, which I don't see any evidence for - none of the major recent contributors seem especially focused on Labour. Anyway, the C4 News story is already its own section (which seems a bit excessive to be honest), so I don't think it can be given any more prominence. Smurrayinchester 15:02, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Agree entirely & have removed a number of so called 'achievements' as this article was too bias. 195.99.35.105 (talk) 21:22, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Childhood
[edit]If "From the age of five, Tulip spent her childhood in Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Singapore and Spain" - then she can't have 'grown up in Hampstead'.
Please can someone check and review. 195.99.35.105 (talk) 21:24, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Various public campaigns
[edit]There was an edit to remove various campaigns/policy issues that Siddiq was involved in, saying that it was unnecessary to included them in the article. This was reverted. However, I think that the removal was correct - the content was not particularly notable. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 21:14, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, also there's overuse of external links, so they could be trimmed. Widefox; talk 01:49, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
Co-operative Affiliation
[edit]I can't seem to find a credible source that claims that Siddiq is a Co-operative Party member. The Co-operative Party's official website doesn't list Siddiq as a member.[1] Siddiq's official website, as well as twitter profile, cites her simply as "Labour".[2][3] AdamFilinovich (talk) 22:33, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
