[edit]Please keep this page. I finally created the page. Why was I not contacted about deleting this page earlier? I am glad that I saved the entire page in a text file. The article is short. I do not know what else to add without plagiarizing someone else and without writing too much that is not encyclopedic.Jon (talk) 04:15, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? You were notified on your talk page. If you want to keep it you need to improve it, by establishing its notablity and providing referencing. Jezhotwells (talk) 02:34, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Where is the discussion for this premature assinine AfD? Well, here are my comments- back off and let the article be. I just found out about it, as did most of the Capital District Wikiproject, we are a VERY active group and I'm sure we can fix any problems. As far as it being a non-notable event...it is one of the few remaining Pinkster festivals in the US along with being mentioned in several articles already, it is linked from Tulip Festival and many more once we get a chance. If you havent noticed I'm upset.Camelbinky (talk) 03:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agree mostly with Camelbinky. I have to update links, but a good number will end up directing here. Will do some research over the next few days to try to add some content to get the article to stay. It's a worthy article. wadester16 05:03, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Camelbinky, i didnot nominate for WP:AfD, I proposed deletion as the article having been created on 2 July was as of 29 July unreferenced and extremely badly written as you can see:
The Tulip Festival happens once a year for two or three days. Admission to the park (and this festival) is entirely free. Thousands of people from around the area come to see the festivities. Tulips!!! There are tens of thousands of tulips. Coronation: the Tulip Queen[1] is chosen for one whole year. Art vendors, food vendors, live music concerts, horse rides, children's playground, amusement park-type rides, and so much more.
Women's bike races were formerly held during this festival.
- Now you have improved it and so the proposed deletion has prompted action. Jezhotwells (talk) 11:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- If your intention was to get someone to IMPROVE the article then proposing it be DELETED was not the right thing to do. There are different templates you could have used and you could have listed it on the Capital District Wikiproject page under in the "articles that need attention" section, and under the "new articles" section so that those in the wikiproject would know the article was created, AND that it needed help. Proposing it needed deletion you stated it was "not notable" if it had not been notable then there wouldnt have been anything Wadester or I could have done to save it. Before you go around proposing deletion do your homework, if you dont want to do the "leg work" on an article before you want it deleted then dont go proposing deletion. In the future if you decide to AfD an article with the Capital District wikiproject, come to talk page on the wikiproject first or one of the members and ask questions first about if anyone is interested in looking at.Camelbinky (talk) 16:24, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, CSD and PROD are helpful in getting editors to fix articles because it's kind of an ultimatum. I never knew this article existed until the PROD was put up. Regardless, the article stays and we can improve upon it. I believe I finished all the linking, and I created a category over at Commons for the images. Smile! wadester16 16:34, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

- As always you are the voice of reason holding back my irrational hatred of...well.. people in general. "doesnt play well with others" should be the new heading on my user page! :-)Camelbinky (talk) 22:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Camelbinky that proposing the article for deletion was the wrong move in this case, and notifying the wikiproject would have been better. If nobody had noticed that the article was tagged, it might have been deleted even though the topic is notable. But fortunately there was a positive outcome. --Albany NY (talk) 03:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Though, to an outsider of our wikiproject, how would they know to contact our project? The CD template wasn't added until the 29th, 27 days after this articles creation. Basically, I think this went the only way it could have, and it worked out positively. wadester16 05:18, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
