Making improvements - March/April 2023

[edit]

This article has been neglected for far too long. Given Seim's importance to modern European jazz, it is important to address this as soon as possible.

I intend to make incremental improvements over the next month, with a view to removing the "multiple issues" notice. Seim is widely discussed in the literature and there is no shortage of reliable sources to cite. Watch this space! :-) Don-music (talk) 20:36, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have made improvements to the prose and the use of reliable sources throughout the introduction and career sections, although more work needs to be done to expand this section.
The discography section remains a bit of a mess and needs tidying / re-structuring. Don-music (talk) 19:24, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are existing sections about Seim's compositional work for classical artists, etc. However, it is impossible to source any of this, and while no doubt true, needs to be better corroborated. It may therefore be necessary to remove these passages temporarily. Don-music (talk) 19:26, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The unverifiable passages, removed from article, but pasted below for possible re-use in future:
He has, more recently, composed music for classical musicians, especially Norwegian mezzo-soprano Anne-Lise Berntsen, soprano Tora Augestad, violinist Atle Sponberg and such as his new work Between Voice and Presence for the Trio Mediaeval. For the 2006 Vossajazz Festival, he wrote a full-length commissioned concert, Reiser.
In 2014 Seim contributed on Mats Eilertsen's Rubicon, the commissioned work for Vossajazz 2014. On this occasion he was the stand-in for Tore Brunborg who missed the event. Currently (2014) he has been touring with his own Trygve Seim Ensemble performing his own compositions. In addition he collaborates in "Trygve Seim/Frode Haltli Duo", the quartet The Source and soprano Tora Augestad's "Music for a While". He also tour and record within projects like Iro Haarla Quintet, Sinikka Langeland’s group "Starflowers", Jai Shankar Ensemble. Don-music (talk) 19:29, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed discography

[edit]

I finally completed the improvement and restructuring of the discography. The discography section is now more in line with other similar jazz artist discographies, highlighting works as (co)leader and works as sideman or collaborator. This structure is also easier to maintain over time. Don-music (talk) 14:33, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removing 'multiple issues' notice

[edit]

Given the improvements made to the article over the past month or two, I think we are in a position to remove the 'multiple issues' warning. The article has been improved for readability, the use of reputable sources, and has been expanded. There is always more work to be done but the principal issues have certainly been addressed. I will leave the warning for the time being but will remove if there are no objections over the next week or so. Thanks! Don-music (talk) 14:35, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Following the notice above, I have elected to remove the 'multiple issues' notice. Thanks! Don-music (talk) 09:57, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
