CCTP-6038 comment

[edit]

While reading the Wikipedia entry on Truth Default Theory (TDT), I found the organization to be somewhat disjointed, and the logic lacked coherence. The article does not follow a clear structure to explain the research background, major findings, and application areas of the theory. Instead, it primarily provides a conceptual description of TDT and then spends much of the text attempting to connect it with other theories. Confusingly, the article introduces numerous other theories, yet fails to explain them adequately. For instance, within very short paragraphs, concepts like probing effect, BAE, and ALIED are mentioned in succession, but these additions do not seem to clarify TDT. Additionally, the article lacks information on practical applications of the theory, leaving readers with only a vague understanding of its effects rather than a clear sense of its relevance and implications. Article review for CCTP-6038 course

[edit]

This article provides a thorough explanation of the topic, moving nicely from the general to the specific. The lead section is good and comprehensive, though there are some clunky sentences. Overall, this is a very good introduction to the topic.

The article is laid in a logical order, making it easy to understand the topic and how it is situated in the greater scope of communication theories. The structure does a good job going from background to the different important components of the theory. Some information (e.g., where the creator of the theory is a professor) is repeated in different sections, but each section provides new information pertinent to the section.

This article presents balanced information, including major critiques of truth-default theory (TD)T) and distinguishing between TDT and other theories. Moreover, it is written in a neutral tone and includes quality sources.

I believe that this article does a good job of introducing the topic and delving into the nuances of the theory, presenting good and useful information throughout. Cassdr01 (talk) 00:08, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
