During that war, he was promoted to first lieutenant for his performance in the battles of Contreras and Churubusco?

The discrepancy between the two is due to him receiving a brevet rank of captain for the activities mentioned and a regular promotion to first lieutenant six days later. I have clarified this in the article. Mojoworker (talk) 21:18, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
