Aquarists recognise over 125+ color forms/races of Tropheus divided into
1998 Konings 8 species T.moorii (T.kasabae is a junior synonym), T.annectens (T.polli is a junior synonym), T.duboisi, T.brichardi, T.sp "black", T.sp"red", T.sp "mpimbwe", T.sp "ikola" Unfortunately almost all Tropheus species are referred to in the aquarium hobby as T.moorii.
Schupke 2003 1 Black, 2 Black-brown, 3 Yellowfin, 4 Wimple, 5 Green blue-eye, 6 Striped Forhead, 7 Striped Forhead, Red, 8 Rainbow (original discription of moorii), 9 Striped blue-eye, 10 duboisi, 11 Kaiser, 12 Cherry Spot 13 Kabezi (I know of no photo of this fish)
