- @Jamez42: Hi, can you specify which parts of the article you think are unsourced, npov, or undue? Please stop removing sourced content and discussion templates until we can reach consensus here, per WP:BRD. 2601:644:1:B7CB:C5AB:F0FE:DD1:A3F2 (talk) 22:13, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
DMY or MDY date format
[edit]On the one hand, the article describes United States policy (Month Day, Year date format is used in the US), and on the other hand, it describes policy towards three countries that use Day Month Year date format. It would be easier to move citations and text back and forth between the articles about the three countries (Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela) if we used a DMY format here. But consensus would be needed to change the date format. Opinions? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:38, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support [day, explicit month, year] (and YMD) is (are) superior date format(s), because it avoids ambiguity and avoids two numbers next to one another. --MaoGo (talk) 15:00, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support pros and cons to both, but more pros to DMY. Kingsif (talk) 15:37, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support! --Jamez42 (talk) 17:26, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Do you think the three countries describe themselves as the "troika of tyranny"? No, it is a term used by people in the United States, where it was coined by John Bolton. The dates should be month, day, year. Even if you guys decided to make it day, month, year, at least be consistent. Throughout the article dates are listed as month, day, year. They aren't "superior date formats", and most English Wikipedia articles use month, day, year, because the month matters more than the day of the month.Bill Williams (talk) 16:35, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- Most users that are contributing to this article are also contributing in other Latin American articles that use Template:DMY. --MaoGo (talk) 17:52, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
