Rewording: incompetent as ineffective

[edit]

I have changed the claim about De Luna as "incompetent" to state "ineffective" instead. He faced 2 hurricanes (at least) in settling the area. Considering all the recent concern about Hurricane Katrina ("whine-trina" in areas not flattened), please note that Tristan de Luna faced the first hurricane on September 19, 1559 at night (surprise!), which flooded/ruined cargo & destroyed several ships: five ships, a galleon and a bark, pushing one caravel and its heavy cargo into a grove inland ("Unless a ship floats into town, it ain't a real hurricane": Mississippi/Alabama had ships wash ashore during Katrina). After De Luna sailed around the Keys, to the area of present-day Georgia/Florida, he met another hurricane at sea (30-50-foot waves, and he did not have the Superdome to stay inside, high and dry). Let history note that Tristan de Luna met with Katrina-on-steroids times 2, and lived. Vast evidence will need to be sourced to support a claim of "incompetent" not just someone's opinion because his ships sank in hurricanes. -Wikid77 (talk) 12:31, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
