This appears to be far too summary
[edit]The definitive history of Trinity Church in New York, at least to the end of the 19th century, is that of the Rev. Morgan Dix, who was eventually Rector of Trinity Church. Also, there was lots more to The Parish of Trinity Church than just Trinity and St. Paul's -- Trinity used to run chapels all over Manhattan. In some cases, the buildings have been sold to other denominations (I think the Serbian Orthodoxy is housed in one of them). In some cases they have been pulled down. In many cases, in the time of Dr. Parks, the XVth Rector, they were given a large sum as an endowment to keep the building up and then turned loose. --djenner 15:39, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]The following info is quite interesting, but has no sources:
- The parish has a large number of realty holdings, including 26 commercial buildings in Lower Manhattan (totaling nearly 6 million sq. ft. in office, retail, and manufacturing space) and 470 acres (1.9 km²) of land on the Housatonic River in West Cornwall, Connecticut.
- Trinity Church has started, endowed or aided more than 1,700 churches, schools, hospitals, and other institutions.
We basically need to cite out sources. Can this be done? - Tbsdy lives (talk) 04:53, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
An Overlooked Historical & Genealogical Matter
[edit]According to genealogical research, the original Trinity Church rested upon the bowerie of Everardus Bogardus, dominie of the Dutch Reformed Church. The land was sold by his widow for a "considerable sum" which was still extant when she died. Her Last Will & Testament distributed the sum among her children, excepting one son at whom she was angry. The disinherited son left many descendants, identified by NYC genealogists. At some point in the 1930s, these descendants filed a class action lawsuit against Trinity Church for their missing share of the inheritance. This was not done in expectation of genuine financial gain. It was done as a lark and curiosity. A great-aunt of this writer was among those who joined the lawsuit. --Edward Chilton — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.134.183.102 (talk) 14:38, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Consecration date of the 3rd church
[edit]The article says Ascension Day (May 1), 1846. However, Ascension Day in 1846 was May 21, while May 1 was Ascension Day in 1845. Which one is correct?
